Our curriculum offer has been designed to ensure our pupils have the essential skills and knowledge that they need to succeed in their academic learning; whilst also encouraging critical thinking, a love of learning and excitement about the world!
All maintained schools in England are required to teach the national curriculum.
We have developed our curriculum, based on the national curriculum, to ensure that we are able to offer our young people an outstanding education. We believe the curriculum should:
promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society
prepare pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life
promote a love of learning
promote high academic achievement
We have worked extremely hard to develop an outstanding curriculum offer for Winton Pupils and we have designed our topics to be relevant to the context of their own lives whilst also expanding their horizons and understanding of the possibilities that may be open to them in life. These curriculum maps outline the basic content and some of the key aspects of learning for our pupils, though it should also be noted that we also ensure a range of exceptional opportunities for our pupils which are not covered in full detail here (such as school journey for year 6; and performing arts week where we turn the whole of Key Stage 2 into a production company for a week).
From Autumn 2016, we will have developed new and detailed parent information books, providing further information and ideas about the curriculum, including ways to support children at home. These will be available soon.
You can also find out further information by visiting the individual pages for different curriculum subjects on this website.
